The ‘minimalist’ design of A new Flat Pack DRESS CODE draws from ancient traditions and
contemporary sources in both applied pattern and architecture. Fukutoshi’s soft floating kimono
patterns are inspired by the sensual world of the Geisha.
This piece not only delights the eye but also excites the imagination with furtive possibilities. This
is coyly understated in its simple form coupled with the controlled yet fluid kimono patterns. This
sophisticated Flat Pack DRESS CODE can be appreciated as functional piece. Through careful
and considered practice, Fukutoshi strive to design treasured objects that will accumulate their
own stories and be passed onto future generations. To them that is sustainability- to produce
objects that last in time and in memory; having quality in both design intent and material. In
DRESS CODE a network of dualities is slowly revealed: the ancient with the new, the soft over
layed onto the hard-edged, calmness with coolness, East meeting West, and the aesthetic
offsetting functional qualities.
The cutting edge process employed in the digital application of the kimono patterns onto the AA
graded marine plywood surface of DRESS CODE seems to be unprecedented and as a result
has delighted industry audiences in Australia and Japan. This new piece has designed for people
who appreciate art and fashion now experience innovative furniture design and craftsmanship,
while people who appreciate crafts and design now experience aesthetic qualities.
Cafe DRESS CODE is considered yet playful encouraging real interaction and capturing the
imagination of a mix of individuals.
The Flat Pack DRESS-CODE range is designed to encourage interaction on multiple levels
between the individual and their contemporary lifestyle and ever changing surroundings. A new
Cafe DRESS-CODE can be used as a table, bed-side table, or stool depending on its orientation,
